Elections cause wider split in America
"In just the past few days, more than 100,000 citizens, from more than 20 states have signed petitions to have their respective states secede from the Union. Sounds like the 1860s all over again."
Here we are several days after the Presidential Elections, 2012, and I'm still a bit hung-over from all the intoxicating political beverages we've been made to drink – during this multi-million dollar campaign season. I think I read somewhere that more than a billion dollars were spent to buy the best BS on TV.
The other guy won re-election; Barack Obama. There has been much said and written before the elections about how damaging his presidency has been to the country, on one side of the ideological spectrum; on the other, a bit more than half of the voters, according to most polls, said, "Let's give the guy four more years." Personally, I think they have all been drinking too much of the "Government knows best," intoxicants, but what do I know, I'm only a semi-political analyst.
I have made no secret about my political leanings, including how dissatisfied I was with the Republican candidate, former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney. But I voted for him, and did so because I couldn't see how a president that feels the need to distance himself from our friends; Israel, for one, and embraces our enemies and who avoids scrutiny of his actions, like the plague, would ever be considered a good president or healthy for America.
I have observed for the past four years, America basically split in half. Obama gets the credit for this accomplishment. He of course wasn't alone in this endeavor, and whether that was his ultimate goal, remains to be seen. But a split has been accomplished, of that there is no doubt.
This split was achieved, in my opinion, by using an old military tactic: "Divide and Conquer." By pitting those who licked up his droppings, against those that were against his policies, he managed a "civil war" without the bloodshed, (so far). He called Tea Party members, the “fringe element,” as well as "racists," and “extremists with an agenda." These he said were bent on keeping him from implementing any of his sound policies. He claimed that there was no bi-partisanship by Republicans in Congress, and that these same ideologues set out from day one to thwart his presidency. Only some of this is true. Republicans saw early on that Obama seemed to have planned to send the economy spiraling out of control. This too has been accomplished.
In just the past few days more than 100,000 citizens, from more than 20 states, have signed petitions to have their respective states secede from the Union. Sounds like the 1860s all over again.
It is no secret that Tea Party activists are mostly middle-aged Caucasians – yet he never made the effort to understand that most of these same activists are Vietnam Veterans; people who could see that his policies are a detriment, and that the distance he has kept from our allies; our friends, would go far in making America a weak partner. And for the record, it’s a bit of a stretch to call Vets, who fought beside persons from just about every ethnicity there is, racist. The problem has never been that those against him were racist, or extremists, but that we could see that his policies and executive orders; many of those without Constitutional support, have never been sound and have done more to further erode the credibility we once had in the world and split this country nearly down the middle, than anything benefitial.
Do I have much hope for the next four years? Not really.
One last thing; I think this statement, written by a person named "Falkenberg," bears repeating again:
"America, what did the media liars and professorate do to get you to feel so deeply guilty that you've lost all power to defend yourselves against charges of "racism," or any other "ism?" Your temerity is what got a half-black, Moslem-sympathizing, Marxist, no-nothing, inept, inexperienced, arrogant and utterly false and traitorous non-American, or at least for sure UNAmerican, elected to office without any examination of his past, his associates, his opinions or his plans. The team he's brought together are busily deconstructing American Liberty as fast as they can, with blatant disregard for the will of the people or the US Constitution."
